About Me
As your Doula
I promise to offer unwavering support to you and your family before, during, and after birth. I will stay in close contact in order to routinely check how you’re doing and offer any support needed.
Hi! I am Shawna Whitten, and I was born and raised in Richland and have lived here in the Tri-Cities all my life. I now enjoy living in West Pasco. I am a mom to three grown children and grandma to three grandchildren. I find much of my joy in life in time spent with my loved ones, reading, writing, and just being at home.
In the year 2011, my life path changed when I lost my corporate job of 17 years. I had previously attended the birth of a third time mom, whose husband was on military duty and not able to be present for the birth, as well as the birth of a friend of mine who was a first time mother, both of which made a significantly positive impact on me. Unemployed, I searched for something that really spoke to me and found a profession that complemented many aspects of my character - Doula. I am passionate about serving mothers and empowering women to have the birth they want, whether they be first time moms, moms who suffer from previous birth trauma, or moms lacking a strong support system. I have an immense desire to help moms experience JOY in birthing. Yes, birth can be intense, demanding, and even hard at times, but it is also miraculous, empowering, and a truly joyful experience of a lifetime! I have now been blessed to support moms, families, and make meaningful relationships as a Doula for 9+ years.
I have received specialized training from DONA International at Bastyr University under the instruction of Internationally renowned author, childbirth educator, and Simkin Center senior instructor Penny Simkin.
I love serving moms in the Tri-Cities, and look forward to each and every one I will have the honor of meeting and supporting through her momentous journey into motherhood.
